Schwann Cells

Schwann cells are involved in many important aspects of the peripheral nervous system (PNS) that produce the myelin sheath (protective coating) surrounding nerves.  Schwann cells are akin to the peripheral nervous system as oligodentrocytes are to the central nervous system.
